A Tanzanian software company, built around one idea

Simplicity Software & Systems Limited builds and runs software for organisations in Tanzania and across East Africa. We are registered here, our team is here, and the systems we build are designed for the conditions we all work in - not for a demo on a fibre connection in another hemisphere.

Why we started

We kept meeting the same situation. A capable organisation, good people, and an operation held together by spreadsheets, WhatsApp groups and one person who remembers how everything fits. Software had been bought, sometimes more than once, and it had not helped - because nobody had spent time understanding the work before replacing it.

So we built the company around the opposite habit: understand the operation first, cut everything that does not earn its place, then build the smallest system that makes the work genuinely easier. That is what we mean by simplicity.

What we believe

• The process comes before the product. If we cannot describe your week on one page, we are not ready to build anything.
• Working software beats status reports. Something usable every two weeks, from the first month.
• Build for the network we have. Offline tolerance and low data use are defaults here, not premium features.
• You own it. Code, cloud accounts, data and documentation are handed over in your name. Every time.
• Say the difficult thing early. If a project is the wrong idea, or we are the wrong people for it, you will hear that before you spend money.

How we are set up

We work as small, named teams rather than a pool of interchangeable resources. On any engagement you know who is building your system, and you can reach them. Delivery runs in two-week cycles with a demo at the end of each one, so progress is something you see rather than something you are told about.

Alongside project work we run managed IT for organisations that need a full IT function without the headcount - helpdesk, devices, security and the strategic thinking that usually goes missing in a growing company.

Where we work

We are based in Dodoma, Tanzania, and most of our clients are here. We also deliver into Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia and further afield, working remotely with regular onsite time where the project needs it. Contracts can be in Tanzanian shillings or US dollars.
